Dr. Tom Morrison, CSO of AccuGenomics, gave two presentations at the GTCbio Molecular Diagnostic Conference in Boston, MA July 6-8, 2016. In his first talk, “Standardized Next Generation Sequencing Abundance Measurements (StarSeq) using Competitive Template Mixtures,” Dr. Morrison describes how the use of AccuGenomics’ competitive mixtures can enable highly multiplex and accurate digital PCR on Next Generation Sequencing Platforms (NGS). “dPCR accuracy derives from the power of counting every target in a sample but has limited target throughput due florescent based detection schemes, whereas NGS has incredible multiplex throughput but limited accuracy due to library construction artifacts,” says Dr. Morrison. The addition of competitive template mixtures to NGS provides the counting accuracy of dPCR while benefiting from the NGS throughput.”
Dr. Morrison’s second talk described AccuGenomics’ standardized qPCR technology and results from their SNAQ BCR-ABL1 pilot study. Standardized Nucleic Acid Quantification (SNAQ) combines competitive mixtures and ratiometric measurements to eliminate the bias and errors that affect real-time qPCR abundance measurements. “SNAQ ensures that every abundance measurement is the same between laboratories, instruments, reagent lots and time while providing comprehensive QA metrics not possible with real-time or dPCR platforms,” says Dr. Morrison.
